An exciting new musical production entitled On A Wing And A Prayer is now taking auditions for a new show in November.

A fashion show in aid of Mayo Cancer Support Association (Rock Rose House) and Casting for Recovery (for women with breast cancer) will take place on Thursday May 6 in the TF Royal Theatre from 7pm (show starts at 8pm).

There are a large number of voluntary organisations around County Mayo and a new six-part documentary radio series entitled Volunteers at the Coal Face highlights the work being done by six groups who rely on volunteers to provide various services for people in the county. The new series will be broadcast on CRCFM (102.9 fm) with the programmes detailing the work being done by Mayo Mountain Rescue, No Name Clubs, RNLI, Order of Malta, Macra na Feirme and Vincent de Paul in bringing their respective services to the people of Mayo.

There are 111 children in care in Mayo through no fault of their own. These are the most vulnerable people in our society and they have been failed. There are myriad reasons why children find themselves in care, but when they are let down by their carers, it’s like they have been neglected all over again.

This Friday night the town hall theatre in Claremorris hosts one of the most successful plays to hit the stage in Mayo over the past decade as The Banshee of Crokey Hill – written and produced by Midwest Radio presenter Tommy Marren – has its final public performance after a 13-month tour that has seen the production play in Ireland, England and the United States.

Mayo Remembrance Concert is a unique event which will take place in the Royal Castlebar Theatre and Event Centre on Monday, October 6. This special concert is being held in honour of all those from County Mayo who served and died in both world wars and in the many conflicts of the past century in the cause of world peace. The fallen will be permanently commemorated in the Mayo Peace Park Garden of Remembrance which will be officially opened on the following day by the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese.

Mrs Quin’s Charity Shops in Claremorris, Castlebar and Ballinrobe are hosting a charity fashion show with a twist on Wednesday November 26 at the McWilliam Park Hotel in Claremorris from 8pm.

C&C Cellular will host a charity ball on August 22 in Breaffy House Hotel to raise money for Mayo Women’s Support Services and Mayo Cancer.
